Sam Smith’s new single, ‘Stay With Me’, has topped the UK charts on its first week of release. This is the third slice to be taken from Smith’s upcoming debut, In the Lonely Hour, and has followed the same path as its successful predecessor ‘Money on My Mind’, knocking Rita Ora’s comeback single, ‘I Will Never Let You Down’, to fourth place. Smith has also been busy this week releasing a new video for another track, entitled ‘Leave Your Lover’.

Another new entry is ‘Dangerous Love’ by Fuse ODG which features Sean Paul, entering at number three. Clean Bandit also have a new entry with ‘Extraordinary’, featuring the vocals of Sharna Bass, which enters at number five. Their upcoming debut album, New Eyes, has been reviewed by The Edge and is available to purchase on the 2nd of June. Nicki Minaj has also returned with new single ‘Pills N Potions’ but has only just entered the top 40, debuting at 38.

Mr Probz, Paloma Faith, John Legend, Calvin Harris and Kiesza all stay strong in the top 10.

In the album chart, Coldplay have soared to number one with their sixth studio album. Ghost Stories has continued Coldplay’s legacy of having no album that hasn’t reached top-spot in the UK. As a result, Michael Jackson’s posthumous album has been pushed down to second place, with Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott’s new album, What Have We Become, in third. Oasis’ reissue of their 1994 Definitely Maybe has also entered the chart in fifth position.

Paloma Faith, Paolo Nutini, Arctic Monkeys and John Legend continue to hold their places in the top ten album chart.
