With the assistance of Lorde's raw and sensual vocals, 'Magnets' is an engaging and exciting piece of electronic music.

With Disclosure’s new album Caracal released today (25th September), the track ‘Magnets’ was also announced as the duo’s latest single and features none other than pop music boundary-pusher, Lorde.

The song begins subtly with a gentle but bold beat, before Lorde’s iconic vocals erupt, vocals that are so sensual it almost feels like they are literally tangible. The song expertly develops and builds into a bouncy chorus, combining edgy, alternative vocals with a dance-based synth that oozes, the latter being the staple sound of Disclosure.

The chorus tingles with an inviting beat that surrounds the delicacy of Lorde’s raw vocals, creating an intriguing blend that works like no other. Similar to the lead single, ‘Holding On’, from the album, the track features an artist who you would not expect to feature with Disclosure, making it all the more special and forcing Sam Smith-featured track ‘Omen’ into a forgettable status.

Due to the sound being mored stripped back and featuring an unpredictable act, ‘Magnets’ isn’t overwhelming, but that is the best thing about it. With Disclosure’s release of the superb but extremely heavy ‘Bang That’, ‘Magnets’ is a refreshing side of Disclosure that illuminates a different dimension of the duo. Although ending too early and requiring at least an extra minute to fully flourish, ‘Magnets’ is an engaging and exciting piece of electronic music.

‘Magnets’ is available now via Island Records.
