Troye Sivan, YouTube star and actor, has revealed the video for his new single ‘Happy Little Pill’ from his upcoming five-song EP, TRXYE.
The video, which Sivan described “perfectly represents the song”, shows teenagers “buying happy from shopping carts” as told in the lyrics. Sivan revealed the concept of the downbeat electronic synth-pop track at VidCon 2014 being about “loneliness and the different ways that people cope with the things that are going on in their lives.”
The new single is the second track unveiled from Sivan’s third EP, TRXYE; his first major release since signed to EMI Music Australia in 2013. Track five of the EP ‘The Fault in Our Stars (MMXIV)’ was the first single originally released in May 2013. Later, a new version was released a month after to be featured on the EP.
South Africa-born, Australia-bred, Troye Sivan first came to public attention as young James Howlett in 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Sivan also starred as the eponymous protagonist of film series Spud. Sivan’s singing career dated back to 2007 when he first uploaded singing videos to his YouTube channel which has now gathered over two and a half million subscribers.
