Nostalgic News: The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle was released 20 years ago

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle is a faint childhood memory, and hearing it is now 20 years old brought back some nostalgia.

The film is based off a television series of the same name, bringing these cartoon characters to life in this live-action sequence. The storyline follows Rocky and Bullwinkle living off the remains of their television show success, which was cancelled in 1964. The villains from this show are brought to life, and Fearless Leader (Robert De Niro) embarks on a quest to become president, ‘zombifying’ the nation into this through RBTV (‘really bad television’).

Though the film was a box office failure, grossing only $35.1 million of its $76 million budget, it hosts an oddly impressive cast from De Niro to Whoopi Goldberg. The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle may not be one for the books, but it certainly brings back some childhood memories, as I hope it does for you. Why not celebrate its 20 year anniversary by rewatching this possibly cringe movie, tainted by nostalgia?
