Nostalgic News: 10 Things I Hate About You was released 20 years ago today

Long before Heath Ledger made us question Batman in The Dark Knight, this Aussie was stealing teenage hearts in the late 90s classic, 10 Things I Hate About You. It is a classic coming-of-age film (and adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew), that has an awesome soundtrack and is an approachable media for those who can’t stomach reading Shakespeare!

It may seem a bit dated 20 years on, but Kat’s feminist rant is still applicable today. Likewise, the story revolves around her and not the male characters. However, the most iconic scene is Heath Ledger’s incredible singing scene – it is still heart-warming today. Many may only remember him for his portrayal of the Joker, but this is where he started. He was a truly talented actor – who could sing, act and dance – and should be remembered for more than his Joker role. By re-watching this film, Heath’s legacy continues.

There is one thing left to say… ‘I hate the way I don’t hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.’
