Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner join cast of Jon Favreau’s live action Lion King remake

Disney have today announced that Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen have been cast in the upcoming live-action remake of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King.

Host of Billy on the Street with Billy Eichner and former Parks and Recreation cast member Billy Eichner has signed on to voice the meerkat Timon, whilst Knocked Up and Superbad star Seth Rogen will voice his warthog counterpart Pumbaa. The pair join a cast which already includes Donald Glover, who will voice Simba, and James Earl Jones, who will be reprising his role as Mufasa, The Jungle Book (2016) director Jon Favreau will be directing the film.

Disney also confirmed that the film will be released in cinemas worldwide on  19th July 2019, Jeff Nathanson is handling scripting duties and the movie is scheduled to enter into production this summer.
