Pokemon Go gets Johto update

Niantic have today rolled up a massive update for Pokémon Go, introducing eighty new Pokémon from the Johto region.

The update is based around items, creatures and apparel which first appeared in Pokémon Gold and Silver, which were first released in November 1999. The game promises to include: “new encounter gameplay”, “two new types of berry” to enhance game mechanics, new evolutionary items and stones to use on your Pokémon and additional outfit and apparel for trainers in-game.

In a statement, Niantic CEO John Hanke emphasised his excitement saying:  “Pokémon Go is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokémon to discover, and much more.”

The update continues a continuous stream of innovation for Niantic’s popular app which was launched last summer, including sponsorship of in-game gyms and limited-time in-game events.
