Scriptwriter Joe Carnahan has taken to Instagram to confirm the initial script for the Uncharted movie has been completed.

The Uncharted film is set to be adapted from the quadrology of successful video games released by Naughty Dog between 2007 and 2016. These games followed Nathan Drake, the descendent of legendary explorer and sea captain Sir Francis Drake as he embarked on quests around the world to discover the secrets behind legendary and ancient artifacts.

The film had originally been intended for release in 2017, but got stuck in development hell. However, this seems finally to be a thing of the past.

In a post, the writer of The Grey confirmed he had completed the first draft, commenting: ‘Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins. If there’s a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, ‘cuz this thing is a BEAST.’ Clearly, he is evidently very excited about the film.

Shawn Levy, famous for Real Steel is set to direct and produce the film, but otherwise very little is known regarding plot or any casting details. Previously, it was rumoured that Mark Wahlberg was the front runner for key protagonist Nathan Drake, but he and Chris Pratt both declined the role, and subsequently no casting has been officially confirmed. In addition, no casting information is known for supporting characters, Mike ‘Sully Sullivan and Elena Fisher.

The Uncharted movie has no specified release date. Check out a summary of the games below (Contains spoilers!):
