Having been on a bit of a break from social media but also the music industry as a whole, it was a surprise when Ed Sheeran suddenly reappeared.
Posting a short video on Twitter and Instagram this New Year’s Day, entitled ‘Hello 2017’, the 26 year old singer has announced that he will be releasing new music in the coming year, and this music will come sooner than expected, next Friday to be exact.
The short video simply sees Sheeran holding up a sign which says ‘New music coming Friday!!’.
This comes in the wake of Sheeran changing all of the profile and cover images on his social media to a solid, plain blue background a few weeks ago. This caused an excited stir among fans, especially since Sheeran has not been active on social media for over a year now.
This will be the first time that he has released new music since 2014 and the release of his album X.
