Agents of SHIELD reveal new-look Ghost Rider

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD have revealed the new-look for the Spirit of Vengeance, aka Ghost Rider as part of their promotional material for series 4. It can be seen here.

The half-human, half-demon is set to debut in series 4 of Marvel’s flagship television show, and his appearance is timely considering the introduction of magic and further examples of genetics-bending which forms the core of upcoming release Dr. Strange.

Although Marvel did reveal the new look of Ghost Rider, who will be played by Gabriel Luna, they remained tight-lipped on what role the character would play in the series, especially regarding his relationship with the Inhumans, who look set to become the key-plot point of the fourth series, which stars Clark Grieg and Chloe Bennett as operatives in the undercover organisation aimed at quelling alien disturbances.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Jed Whedon did tease Ghost Rider’s introduction saying: “As always, we are going to put our own spin on the character,” but did add “We are staying true to the comics in the places where we feel like it’s really important — we love the character’s family dynamic and the East L.A. kid in him.”

Whedon also discussed the increasing element of the unknown which is pervading both the MCU and television series stating: It started out with a guy building a suit using science, and then we met aliens that are the origin of the myths behind some of our gods, and this year Doctor Strange comes out,” before adding “We’re opening it up even further to the world of things we don’t totally understand, or as Thor says, ‘Magic is science that we don’t understand.’ Well, we’re getting into some very, very fancy science.”

Agents of SHIELD series 4 returns to the UK later this year. Check out a teaser trailer for Ghost Rider below:
