Marvel have today released some new footage in the first television spot for upcoming release Doctor Strange.
The film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role is set to deal with a side of the Marvel Comic Universe which has previously been neglected in the Avengers series, looking more at the side of magic and the spiritual enlightenment.
Although the trailer is very similar to the same one which was shown a few weeks ago at Comic Con 2016, there are some notable new additions to this TV spot. In particular, more focus is shown on Mads Mikkelsen’s as-yet-unnamed villain attacking a major city, as well as some footage of a brooding, hooded Baron Mordo, Strange’s rival in sorcery, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
An official synopsis for the film was also released today, saying: ‘Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.’
Doctor Strange is due to be released on 28th October this year. Watch the new TV spot below:
