Nashville: Season 5 to air on CMT

Fans of Nashville can rejoice today as CMT have announced that they have come to the rescue of the popular country music show.

Nashville season 5 will now be shown on CMT, a move likely to thrill many fans who had waited in limbo after ABC dropped the show in May. This upcoming season of the show will consist of 22 episodes and will be available to stream on Hulu, 1 day after it airs on CMT.

The move comes after ABC’s recent decision to drop Nashville from the network. As a result of this, fans of the show banded together on twitter to show their anger, trending the hashtag #BringBackNashville. This response struck a chord with Lionsgate Television, who immediately began determined discussions with other networks, to secure Nashville a future which previously looked unlikely.

Upon securing the show, CMT president Brian Philip commented that: “Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving lineup of big music specials, documentaries, and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT.”

Despite the positive outcome, there are still key issues which will worry the Nashville fan-base, most notably the lack of clarity over which actors will be returning in Season 5.

Fans will have to stay tuned to learn the latests news on the future of the show and its stars. In the mean time watch the trailer for Season 4 below:
