CBS has ordered a 22 episode run of the Limitless series.

The new show focuses around Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), and serves as a continuation of the 2011 sci-fi thriller movie, which starred Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

The film focuses on the abilities of a mysterious drug called NZT, which allows takers to use the full capacity of their brain power. Cooper starred in the film as Senator Eddie Morra – a role he will returns to in a recurring capacity for the spin-off series. Cooper also serves as an Executive Producer on the show.

In this new story, McDorman’s character is a musician who is forced to work for the FBI, utilising the newfound abilities that NZT has provided him with. CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller expressed his excitement on “how Limitless continues to evolve creatively each week and stand out with its unique style of storytelling.”

The series also stars Hill Harper, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter. Sky Living have obtained the rights for the show’s UK broadcast, but it is as yet unclear when the series will air.
