Following his cryptic hints yesterday, Sam Smith has confirmed that he is the singer-songwriter behind the latest Bond theme.
Smith has revealed that the track – entitled ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ – will make it’s debut later this month. In an interview with Nick Grimshaw on the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show, Smith also divulged that the song – which he described as a “secret mission” of his own – was recorded back in January of this year.
“We recorded it in January, and I’ve been waiting to tell people for such a long time,” the singer said. “I haven’t told hardly anyone, so this is amazing. I’m so excited for people to hear it. I love the song so much.”
The singer went on to reveal that he and Jimmy Napes wrote the track in just 20 minutes, adding that the vocal used on the final version of the song is his original demo take.
‘Writing’s on the Wall’ is set to be released and make it’s debut on 25th September. You can watch the trailer for Spectre – the 24th instalment of the James Bond franchise for which the song has been written – below.
