Amy Schumer working on new kidnapping comedy for Fox

The season-three finale of Inside Amy Schumer has come and gone and following the awful events of the recent Trainwreck shooting, we’re pleased to see that Schumer is still working on a new comedy.

Her next big comedy movie is currently in the works at FOX. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will be a comedy about a mother and daughter kidnapped while on vacation in Brazil.

The script originally came from The Heat’s Katie Dippold, who originally based the story on her own relationship with her mother. Schumer reworked the script with her sister, Kim Caramele. Paul Feig is producing, along with Spy and New Girl producer Peter Chernin.

Schumer will play the daughter role, while some big name actresses are being eyed to play her mother. Frances Conroy, Sally Field, and Meryl Streep are all on the wish list. Let’s all just take a second to imagine an Amy Schumer-Meryl Streep pairing… Brilliant, right?

The project still lacks a director, but filmmakers that are said to be in the running include; Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners), Mike White (Year of the Dog), Lucia Aniello (Broad City) and Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine).

Fox wants shooting to start before the end of the year. And so do we – the sooner we get another Amy Schumer movie in our lives, the better. Watch the trailer for Schumer’s latest movie below.
