FOX unveils first teaser for The X-Files revival

FOX has revealed an all new first teaser for the upcoming revival of The X-Files.

As with everything else we’ve seen from the revival so far, the trailer doesn’t give much in terms of what is going to be explored within the new season’s storyline. Instead, we’re given a nostalgic trip back to The X-Files’ golden years in Vancouver.

The teaser opens with a UFO being uncovered, some good old alien experimentation, someone trampling over the ‘I Want To Believe’ poster (which should be a federal crime) in what seems to be the basement office. And of course, there’s a glimpse of Mulder and Scully storming in with guns and torches blazing, much like the previous piece of 2 second footage we got in the 201 Days of X-Files announcement. And with that, the trailer ends with those 6 treasured notes that transcend into the infamous theme tune.

Through a recent interview with series creator Chris Carter, all we know is that the revival will focus on the mythology and an emotional arc between Mulder and Scully. The revival sees original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles, along with Mitch Pileggi as Assistant Director Skinner and William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man.

The only new member to the team we know as of yet is Joel McHale, who is portraying a talk show host who is one of Mulder’s allies. Flight of the Conchords‘ Rhys Darby has also been cast in an as yet unknown role.
