Not only does the trailer tease several Justice League connections, but it also appears to give a clear nod towards villainous characters set to star in Suicide Squad.

In the opening minute of the dramatically dark new promo, Superman (Henry Cavill) is dismissed as “very dangerous” by Holly Hunter’s councilwoman, in her discussion of the aftermath of events in Man of Steel. Meanwhile, in the midst of Metropolis’ destruction, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) receives a disturbing note alluding to his parents’ demise, which spurs him back into wearing that infamous Batman cowl.

As well as several action-packed sightings of the two superheroes’ battling against each other, the trailer also offers us our first real glimpse at Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, as well as the film’s villain, Lex Luthor (newly realised by Jesse Eisenberg). There even appears be a clear nod to one of Batman’s greatest foes, The Joker – who is set to be played by Jared Leto in DC’s forthcoming villain-fest, Suicide Squad.

Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne also star in the trailer, with the movie itself set to introduce the likes of Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) into DC’s cinematic universe.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is directed by Zack Snyder, is set to be released on 25th March 2016.
