Academy Award winners, nominees and other notable film-makers are among the 322 people invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 2015.

Each year, the Academy selects a new class to be inducted into its various branches. The branches cover everything from actors to cinematographers, to make up artists and costume designers. Collectively, members of the Academy vote on the nominees and winners of the Oscars each year.

Stars included in the roster this year are Eddie Redmayne (Theory of Everything), Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises),  and Emma Stone (Birdman).

Directors that have also been invited include Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), Niki Caro (Whale Rider) and Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game).

Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs stated: “It’s gratifying to acknowledge the extraordinary range of talent in our industry. This year, our branches have recognised a more diverse and inclusive list of filmmakers and artists than ever before, and we look forward to adding their creativity, ideas and experience to our organisation.”

Per tradition, the new members will be celebrated at a reception this Autumn, held before the ceremony for 2016’s Academy Awards.
