Jimmy Fallon has been forced to cancel this evening’s taping of The Tonight Show, due to hand injuries he sustained in an accident at his home last night (25th June).

The extent of the injury has not yet been revealed, but a source at NBC has stated that it required minor surgery in his apartment in Manhattan. It is currently unknown how long Fallon will be off the air.

The cancelation was announced early Friday afternoon on The Tonight Show’s official twitter account: ‘Hey Guys – unfortunately tonight’s taping has been cancelled due to Jimmy injuring his hand. He’s totally fine but we’ll be airing a repeat’.

The NBC spokesperson went on to say that the talk show is scheduled for a two week hiatus during the American Fourth of July holiday. The show will be off the air between 29th June-3rd July and 5th-10th July, respectively.

In a separate tweet, the show announced that ticket holders for Friday’s taping will be contacted to reschedule.

Fallon has been the host of The Tonight Show ever since Jay Leno left in April 2014.
