Katherine Waterston is the latest actor to join the cast of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
In the film, which is based on the short novella by Harry Potter author J.K Rowling, Waterston will play a witch called Porpentina, who works in the wizarding world alongside Newt Scamander – the fictional magizoologist who penned the journal later read by Harry Potter.
It was announced earlier this month that Oscar winning actor, Eddie Redmayne would star as Scamander in David Yates’ live-action adaptation. It is reported that Yates is still on the look out for actors to play several other main characters, including the roles of Queenie (Porpentina’s sister) and Jacob – one of Newt’s keenest rivals.
Waterston is best known for her recent breakthrough performance as Shasta Fay Hepworth in Paul Thomas Anderson’s trippy crime drama, Inherent Vice. She has also appeared briefly in films like Michael Clayton and The Babysitters, as well as a four-episode stint on Broadwalk Empire.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set to be released on 18th November 2016.
Waterston meanwhile, can next be seen in Danny Boyle’s upcoming biopic, Steve Jobs, alongside Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen. Watch the teaser trailer below.
