New trailer for Daredevil released – watch

A new (and presumably last) trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil has finally arrived.

It gives us our best look at both Charlie Cox’s performance as Matt Murdock – the blind lawyer by day, sonar powered superhero by night –  and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, the future crime boss of ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, the Kingpin.

This is the first of a planned five shows made in collaboration with Netflix. This will be followed by A.K.A. Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter, formerly of Breaking Bad as the titular ex-superhero Private Investigator. The show is expected to land late this year, and after that will come Luke CageIron Fist, and finally The Defenders which will unite the leads of all four shows.

From the trailer, it’s hard to see this matching the same tone as many of the Marvel films. Even Captain America: The Winter Soldier, their most serious film yet, was still funny and played like a comic book. It’s also very coy about showing either Daredevil or Kingpin in their iconic suits, emphasising what has been said before about the show: it’s very much an origin story for both of them. It’s an intriguing approach, and there’s more than enough in the trailer to make you a little bit excited. But there’s not any of the fun or punch-the-air glee that could be found in last week’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer.

The series will be doing things the Netflix way, with all 13 episodes being uploaded to the site at once on the 10th April, giving you plenty of time to cancel any plans you may have had the following day.
