Emily Kinney to play DC’s Bug-Eyed Bandit in The Flash

The Walking Dead‘s Emily Kinney will play DC Comics villain Bug-Eyed Bandit in The Flash. Kinney most recently played viewer favourite character Beth Greene in The Walking Dead, and also starred in The Big C.

Kinney will appear in the highly-anticipated ‘All-Star Team-Up’, which sees Arrow‘s Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) guest starring.

This version of tech wizard Bug-Eyed Bandit will change from the character’s DC Comics origins by being a woman named Brie Larvan, rather than a man named Bertram.

Brie Larvan and Felicity Smoak will face off in the upcoming Flash episode, though whether this female battle is just another tool for ratings is on the mind of all who are wondering why the gender switch has happened.

Bug-Eyed Bandit has been the arch-enemy of Ray Palmer’s superhero’s alter-ego The Atom dating back to 1966 in DC Comics.

Brandon Routh is donning the mantle of The Atom later this season on Arrow as the culmination of Ray Palmer choosing to become a vigilante, with discussions underway for a spinoff series for the character.

The Flash airs on The CW on Tuesdays in the US and Sky1 airs the show in the UK.
