Preview: Metronomy at Alexandra Palace (5/12/2014)

Metronomy is the musical term for the measurement of time by an instrument (if you were wondering, because I was). This English ‘new wave’ electronic group are currently in the middle of their Love Letters European tour. The band will play the historic and atmospheric Alexandra Palace on 5th December, and Glasgow shortly after. The four-piece group was formed in 1999 by Joseph Mount, and have released four albums since their debut. Their most recent album reached number 7 in the charts, and received a excellent review from NME. During the summer months the band had a busy festival season; playing a slot at Glastonbury and headlining London’s Field Day Festival.

Courtney Barnett is tipped to be the support act, an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. She is known for her witty lyrics and deadpan singing style, attracting attention from the US and UK music press in 2013. Check out her latest LP, Avant Gardener, from her double EP: A Sea of Split Peas.
