Preview: Editors at Southampton Guildhall

With the release of their new album The Weight of Your Love, British band Editors are set to play 18 dates nationwide beginning in Margate on 5th November. Their European tour, ranging over 4 months, has been highly anticipated by fans, following the release of their fourth album earlier this year.

Over the last couple of years Editors has undoubtedly adapted, especially with the departure of guitarist Chris Urbanowicz in 2012, leading to the arrival of Justin Lockey and Elliot Williams. However talented the newbies may be, and the band’s reassurances of a new, yet positively different musical sound, fans were pretty gutted to see Chris go.

Despite some low – or rather, harsh – ratings from NME and The Guardian regarding The Weight of Your Love, the band has evidently had an eventful year, performing at some top festivals both in the UK (Glastonbury, Reading, and T in the Park) and Germany (Hurricane and Southside). The band is also up for ‘Best Headliner’ at the European Festival Awards – so obviously the guys still have their on-stage charm.

Thursday 7th November brings Editors and their support band British Sea Power to Southampton Guildhall. With their great sound and extensive discography, I’m sure British Sea Power will give the audience a powerful performance before being embraced by Editorschilling, yet passionate lyrics and melodies.
