100 Discs of Christmas #99 – The Polar Express (2004)

It isn’t the best film ever made, but may well be the most Christmassy. The Polar Express has been part of my Christmas tradition for years, and anyone wanting to get into the festive spirit need only put the disc into their machine and be transported to a the North Pole.

The story is a bit weak – a boy who is loosing his faith in Santa is taken on a train ride (along with other kids) to meet him – but the colourful animation is so sumptuous it doesn’t seem to matter.

The Polar Express (2004), directed by Robert Zemeckis, is released on Blu-ray disc and DVD in the UK by Warner Bros, Certificate U.
