On an evening hosted by BBC South presenter Sally Taylor, the Nuffield Theatre will play host to Laura Carmichael and Samantha Bond, who star as Lady Edith Crawley and Lady Rosamund Painswick in the much-loved TV series Downton Abbey.

Though best known for her performance as Lady Edith Crawley over the five-year run of Downton Abbey, Laura Carmichael’s career also sparkles with film roles including 2011’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and 2014’s Madame Bovary. Lady Edith is perhaps one of the more reckless members of the Downton cast, professing, ‘the fact is, I’d like a life!’

Samantha Bond stands as Lady Edith’s aunt in the series, Lady Rosamund Painswick. Downton Abbey aside, Bond is best known for her Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise, and has additionally held parts in Outnumbered and Midsomer Murders.

The evening will explore the lives of the two actresses in television, film and theatre, with behind the scenes look at their careers. It is a one-off event delivered by Carmichael and Bond, who are Associate Actresses of the Nuffield Theatre.

An Evening with Laura Carmichael and Samantha Bond will take place on Sunday 7th February. Tickets are being sold here.
