The BBC has commissioned a second series of their drama In the Club. The series, written by Kay Mellor, follows six different couples who bond through their local parent craft classes.
Although ratings have not been as high as they could have been (peak viewing figures were around 5 million) the show proved to have a committed fan base across the six episodes.
Mellor’s production company Rollem Productions produces In The Club for the BBC and will continue to make the show for its second series. Its cast includes Hermione Norris, Tara Fitzgerald, Jill Halfpenny, Katherine Parkinson, Will Mellor, Jonathan Kerrigan, Christine Bottomley, Luke Thompson, Taj Atwal, Sacha Dhawan and Hannah Midgley.
“BBC One viewers really took the characters to their hearts and it was exciting to see the show build across the six episodes”, said BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore. “Kay Mellor’s story about a group of pregnant women celebrated life in all its joy and tragedy and I’m looking forward to the delivery of series two.”
Though the BBC haven’t specified when the show will likely be broadcast, it is likely to be broadcast in late summer/autumn 2015.
