TV round-up: 27th June – 4th July

This upcoming week’s TV is particularly exciting due to Glastonbury 2014’s live coverage, which will include performances by Arcade Fire, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, Pixies and The Black Keys over the weekend. Next Thursday is particularly hectic, with new series such as The Honourable Woman and The Secret Life of Students scheduled for that evening. Read the full round-up below.

Glastonbury 2014: Catch all the live coverage of the famous festival on BBC Two this weekend, presented by Jo Whiley, Mark Radcliffe, Lauren Laverne and Huw Stephens. Whether it be Kasabian, Arcade Fire or Ellie Goulding, you can catch their performances on various evening slots throughout the weekend.

Police Under Pressure: The second part to this two-parter continues the honest interview series of the police and their working life with the new budget cuts. This episode focuses on South Yorkshire Police attempting to rebuild their reputation which has been harmed by the Hillsborough tragedy and also having some of the most dangerous crime figures nationally. Watch it on BBC Two, next Monday at 9pm.

The Honourable WomanThe Honourable Woman: Featuring Maggie Gyllenhall in the title role as Nessa Stein, who takes over the family company in order to the write the wrongs of her father who was a Zionist arms procurer. She soon finds herself in an international maelstrom as she continues to promote the reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians. Written and directed by BAFTA winning Hugo Blick, the mini-series is set to air on July 3rd at 9pm on BBC 2.

Glee: Returning for the second part of Season 5 we catch up with our singing stars in both Lima and New York. The episode entitled “Frenemies” is pretty self-explanatory and we watch as many begin to battle for various roles such as valedictorian and understudy. We watch as the onscreen battle between Rachel (Lea Michelle) and Santana (Naya Rivera) commences all to the backdrop of the musical Funny Girl. Airing in the UK also on July 3rd at 9pm.

America’s Next Top Model: The Tyra Banks’ show is back for its 20th season next week. The modelling competition now includes both males and females against each other in the bid to win a modelling contract, magazine shoot, and a $100,000 advertising campaign with a clothing company. In the first episode, the contestants all meet at a masquerade ball and have to pick a partner at random to walk down the catwalk with. With limited spaces available in the next round, tensions run high. Watch it next Thursday, at 8pm on Sky Living.

The Secret Life of Students: This documentary follows 12 students as they begin their first year at Leicester University. Along with filming the ongoings of their newfound university life, the students are also to have their social media followed, with their online life combining with reality in the programme. Catch it on Thursday, at 10pm on Channel 4.
