“Gentlemen to bed for we leave at 8.30 for 9!”

Daniel Bateman last year reviewed Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan‘s The Trip, singing its praises. Just a few months later, The EDGE take a nostalgic look at the best moment of the series for those of you who were unfortunate enough to miss out.

In the clip we have chosen, Brydon and Coogan discuss the rolling hills to their right as they scale the countryside, delving into the historic past of England via the costume drama. In their invocation of the voices of their forefathers, they reveal the inherent flaws in the dialect of times long passed, fall into an accents that echo Scottish comedians, and ad. lib a musical masterpiece. It is witty, intelligent, and simply hilarious.
