Robert De Niro confirms role in Joy

Robert De Niro has confirmed his role in the upcoming film, Joy.

As a result of this casting, he will reunite with with David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence, who currently stars in the upcoming blockbuster, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, released on Thursday.

Joy follows the success story of Joy Mangano, the woman behind the Miracle Mop. Lawrence is said to portray Mangano, with De Niro playing Mangano’s father.

The two famous actors initially starred in Silver Linings Playbook, before reuniting in Russell’s American Hustle last year, which was famously nominated for ten Oscars without taking any home. According to some, Russell is hoping to cast Bradley Cooper for Joy too, in order to reunite the whole trio once more.

The film is said to begin filming in February 2015, with a release of Christmas in the same year, just in time for the awards run.
