After much anticipation, Slipknot have been announced as the first headline act for Download 2015.

The metal band from Iowa will be headlining the Friday night of the weekend, making this their third time fronting the annual rock and metal festival to date. They will be supported by Judas Priest, Five Finger Death Punch, with Black Stone Cherry performing as headliners on the second stage.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor had this to say on the announcement: “Being invited back to Download always feels like coming home. Headlining Download, for the third time, feels like the culmination of a life’s dream. It’s an honour, a privilege and we’re all looking forward to it.”

Slipknot and Judas Priest will then go on to headline Hellfest from 19th – 21st June.

Download 2015 will be held in Donington Park, Derby between 12th – 14th June next year.

Last year’s festival was headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith, and featured acts like Fall Out Boy, Bowling for Soup and The Pretty Reckless.
