This week sees the highly-anticipated release of two collaborations: Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s jazz album and the release of the certified hit ‘Bang Bang’, by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. As well as this, Alt-J release the follow-up to their debut album which has been slowly revealed to fans via singles and a streaming app. Read the full round-up below.
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett – Cheek to Cheek
One of the most exciting releases of the year, Cheek to Cheek sees two of the most iconic artists in the musical sphere collaborate for a jazz endeavour. The album includes the singles ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love’ whilst featuring other duets as well as tracks with just Gaga or Bennett performing. Cheek to Cheek is a piece of music with creative fearlessness, with Gaga going from the release of dance-heavy ARTPOP, to covering 1940 classics in her latest musical exploration. Gaga and Bennett’s project follows their duet on Bennett’s Duets II, where the pair sung ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’. Buy the album on Monday and listen to the unlikely duo’s lead single, ‘Anything Goes’.
Alt-J – This Is All Yours
Following their successful debut album, An Awesome Wave, which won the 2012 Mercury Prize, Alt-J are back this week with the official release of This Is All Yours. The album has so far spawned three singles: ‘Hunger of the Pine’, ‘Left Hand Free’ and ‘Every Other Freckle’. Two weeks ago the trio launched an app which allows the user to listen to the album in specific streaming locations around the world. Watch the haunting video for the lead single of This Is All Yours, available to purchase 22nd September.
This week sees the release of the ultimate female pop star collaboration: Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, with the latter recently revealing the video to the controversial ‘Anaconda’ which has already collected over 180 million hits on YouTube. The lead single to Jessie J’s upcoming third studio album, ‘Bang Bang’ is an infectious and shameless pop track, and is without a doubt the best we have seen from Jessie J since her last UK number one, ‘Domino’. The song has already reached number four in the US, but what will the track’s fate be in the UK chart? The song is available to buy tomorrow. Listen below.
