This week’s round-up consists of many highly-anticipated releases, including Sigma’s ‘Changing’. The track, which features Paloma Faith, has had a music video for nearly two months, and thus its release has been a long-time-coming. Elsewhere in the round-up, the latest track from Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s collaborative jazz album, Cheek to Cheek, is to be available to download next week, entitled ‘Nature Boy’ which was originally penned and published in the late 1940s. Lowell is also returning this week with her first full-length solo record oozing with electro-pop.
Lowell – We Loved Her Dearly
After beginning her career as a songwriter, then later singing with Apparatjik, Lowell (full name Elizabeth Lowell Boland) will be releasing her first full-length solo album, titled We Loved Her Dearly. Featuring tracks ‘LGBT’ with a clear pro-gay rights message and ‘Cloud 69’ highlighting women’s strength over promiscuous ‘bad boys‘, Lowell has termed the album as “feminist” and “completely autobiographical”. We Loved Her Dearly is available to purchase from 16th September.
Sigma – ‘Changing’ feat. Paloma Faith
A follow-up to their number one hit, ‘Nobody to Love’, that was released earlier in the year, Sigma return with ‘Changing’ hoping to match their recent chart success with the help of Paloma Faith. Having got used to hearing Faith’s voice in a more classic pop context throughout the release of three albums, ‘Changing’ marks Faith’s first endeavour in the dance genre with surprisingly gratifying results. Having previously topped the charts with ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’, ‘Changing’ certainly stands as a change for the British artist, whose effortless and idiosyncratic vocals work well with an infectious dance beat. Available to buy tomorrow, listen to the track below.
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett – ‘Nature Boy’
Following both ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love’, ‘Nature Boy’ is the latest track to be lifted from the upcoming album, Cheek to Cheek. One of the most unlikely collaborative albums to ever come to the surface, Cheek to Cheek combines a jazz legend with one of the most influential pop artists in the world. With the two tracks that have been revealed thus far from the album, Cheek to Cheek is something to get extremely excited for. ‘Nature Boy’, penned by eden ahbez and originally published in 1947, is planned to be available for download from 16th September. Gaga and Bennett’s rendition is still universally unheard, making next week even more exciting. Listen to ‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love’ below and preorder Cheek to Cheek now.
