This week’s round-up consists of another single from Southampton’s very own Foxes. Following from hits such as ‘Let Go For Tonight’, the title track from her debut album, Glorious, proves to be a much slower track, showcasing the artist’s vocal capabilities. As well as Foxes, The Saturdays are back with another silly dance track taken from their upcoming greatest hits album. This week also sees two début albums: former dancer FKA twigs’ LP1 and American electronic music producer Porter Robinson’s Worlds.

Albums

FKA twigs – LP1

fkatwigsAfter pursuing a career as a dancer back when she was 17, featuring in music videos for the likes of Jessie J and Kylie Minogue, FKA twigs will be releasing her first full length album this week, appropriately titled LP1. The 10-track album follows the release of EP1 in 2012 and EP2 last year, and includes lead single ‘Two Weeks’ and ‘Pendulum‘ which was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 evening show last month. The album promises a seductive sound to accompany her desire to experiment with ‘intelligent sexuality’ through her lyrics and image. LP1 is due for release 11th August, and is available to stream now via iTunes.

Porter Robinson – Worlds

blog-0135697001407428456Electronic music producer, Porter Robinson, is due to release his début album Worlds this week. He began self-producing when he was just 12, and has since released the 11-track EP Spitfire which reached number one in the iTunes Dance Chart and has also co-written and provided backing vocals for Zedd’s single ‘Clarity‘. Robinson released ‘Sea of Voices‘, the first single to be lifted from Worlds earlier this year during the Oscars which trended worldwide that night on Twitter. The 12-track album, which also features singles ‘Sad Machine‘ and ‘Flicker‘, is expected 11th August. Watch the video for Robinson’s latest single ‘Lionhearted’ below.

Singles

Foxes – ‘Glorious’

foxes-gloriousThe Southampton-born singer releases ‘Glorious’ tomorrow, the title track of her debut album that hit shelves earlier this year. The album reached fifth position in the UK chart and has so far spawned three top 20 singles: ‘Youth’, ‘Let Go For Tonight’ and ‘Holding Onto Heaven’. As well as featuring in an upcoming episode of the eighth series of Doctor Who, Foxes is hoping to continue her singles chart success with a slightly darker tone and slower tempo which is a large difference from her most successful hit to date: the upbeat dance track ‘Let Go For Tonight’. Listen to the ballad-like track below, released tomorrow.

The Saturdays – ‘What Are You Waiting For?’

The-Saturdays-What-Are-You-Waiting-For_-2014-1200x1200-250x250The Saturdays are back with the lead single of their upcoming greatest hits album. ‘What Are You Waiting For?’ is reminiscent of the majority of The Saturdays’ most recent singles: a meaningless dance track with silly lyrics focusing on how much the girl group enjoy partying. The upcoming album, released Monday and entitled Finest Selection: The Greatest Hits, features their recent number one single ‘What About Us’, as well as singles ranging from the beginning of their career (‘Up’) and their most recent releases (‘Disco Love’). The track will be available to purchase tomorrow. Check out the video below.
