Records round-up: June 21st – 27th

This upcoming week is extremely lively for records with Ed Sheeran’s second studio album released this Monday. Potentially one of the most eagerly-awaited albums of 2014, follows the very commercially-successful album +. Elsewhere in the records round-up, Mastodon are also back with a new album and Usher returns with new single, ‘Good Kisser’. Read the full round-up below.

Albums

Ed Sheeran – x

cover326x326Without a doubt the biggest upcoming album release this Monday is Ed Sheeran’s second studio album, x, a follow-up to his debut 2011 album, +. His first album reached number one in the UK, and featured hit singles ‘The A Team’, ‘Lego House’ and ‘Drunk’. The new album’s lead single, ‘Sing’, hit number one in the UK charts a few weeks ago, with Sheeran also releasing promotional singles via iTunes which presently saturate the top 20, with half of the top 10 currently Ed Sheeran tracks. Released on Monday, there is both a standard and deluxe edition available of the singer-songwriter’s 2014 album. Watch Ed Sheeran in action below.

Mastodon – Once More ‘Round the Sun

5a3161c0The American metal band will be releasing their sixth studio album this Monday, entitled Once More ‘Round the Sun. The album will be a follow-up to 2011’s The Hunter which managed to take 19th place on the UK top 40 on its release. The lead single, ‘High Road’, which didn’t chart in the UK, was followed by a promotional single, ‘Chimes at Midnight’, both available to buy via iTunes. The 11-track album is currently accessible to stream on iTunes and will be released as one standard version this coming Monday. Listen to the album’s lead single below.

Singles

Example – ‘One More Day (Stay With Me)’

Example_One_More_DayExample is back with another single from his upcoming fifth studio album, following lead single ‘Kids Again’. The tracks are to be taken from Live Life Living, a follow-up to 2012’s The Evolution of Man. The album, which will be released early July this year, will also follow Example’s most successful album, Playing in the Shadows, which reached number one in the UK in 2011 and featured the number one single, ‘Changed the Way You Kissed Me’. Sophie Ellis-Bextor – ‘Love Is A Camera’

Sophie-Ellis-Bextor-Love-Is-a-Camera-2014-LQ‘Love Is A Camera’ is the third single to be taken from Ellis-Bextor’s most recent album, Wanderlust. Her fifth studio album charted in position four in the UK chart, becoming Ellis-Bextor’s second best commercial performance, with the album’s predecessor only just entering the top 40 in place 33. The single is accompanied by a gothic video and is officially due for release this coming Monday. Ellis-Bextor is also due to perform at Glastonbury this year. Listen to the track below.

Usher – ‘Good Kisser’

Usher-good-kisser-cover-400x400Usher’s new single, ‘Good Kisser’, is the artist’s first track of 2014, following 2013’s non-album single, ‘One’, and 2012’s album Looking 4 Myself. The single is to be taken from Usher’s upcoming eighth studio album which is yet to have a title. Available to purchase tomorrow, check out its sound below.
