British singer Florence Welch has confirmed that she is currently working on new music. When asked at London fundraising event, The Other Ball, if she would be performing new material, she replied that it was not yet ready but confirmed that a third studio album was in progress.

“I am actually really excited,” Florence said, speaking to Capital FM. “I sort of forgot how much of yourself you have to give to a record and how the beginning process of it is so hard.

“So when actually you’ve come through that process a bit and you can kind of see a clearer picture, you’re like, ‘Oh now I get it’. It’s coming through to that other side now and it feels good.”

At the event, held by Mark Ronson in aid of the charity Arms Around the Child, Welch played a short set consisting of 2010 single ‘Dog Days are Over’ and 2011’s ‘Shake it Out’. Lily Allen, Rudimental and Blood Orange also gave performances.

Florence + the Machine’s previous album, Ceremonials, which was released in 2011, peaked at number one in the UK charts and debut album Lungs has spent over 140 weeks in the UK Top 40.
