Lily Allen has unveiled a new track, entitled ‘Bass Like Home’, which has been described by Allen as the ‘unofficial World Cup song’.

The pop artist name-drops British icons (many not related to football) such as William Shakespeare, John Lennon, the Queen and Paul Gasgoine in the song, which is not featured in her latest album Sheezus.

The official World Cup song is by Pitbull and is named ‘We Are One (Ole Ola)’. The track features vocals from Jennifer Lopez, who has previously collaborated with Pitbull for their ‘On The Floor’ hit, and Brazilian singer, Claudia Leitte.

The unveiling of Allen’s new song comes after her third studio album, Sheezus, where it reached number one in the UK charts. Allen has released several singles from the album so far, including ‘Air Balloon’, ‘Hard Out Here’ and ‘Sheezus’.

Allen recently performed at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and is to perform at Glastonbury this summer.
