Hugh Jackman cast in new Peter Pan film

Hugh Jackman has been confirmed to star as Blackbeard in Joe Wright’s upcoming adaptation, Pan.

The film’s production company, Warner Bros., released the information yesterday. Greg Silverman, president of creative development and worldwide production at Warner Bros., has said that: “Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences… We know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure.”

The news comes after Garrett Hedlund was confirmed as portraying the character of Captain Hook in the new Peter Pan adaptation, who previously was said to be in competition with Jack Huston and Ezra Miller for the role.

The prequel film is to tell the tale of the friendship between Peter Pan and Captain Hook, set in the time when Hook was working on Blackbeard’s ship.

Rumours are circulating with regards the role of Peter Pan but, as of yet, the role is yet to be cast.

Pan is planned for release on 26th June, 2015.
