The single ‘Desire’ was first released in December 2014 by Years & Years where it reached number 22 in the UK charts, and later featured on their first album Communion, which was released in July 2015. The new revamped single, released on March 4th, features the Swedish pop singer Tove Lo behind the single ‘Talking Body’.

The up-beat, synth sound unique to the trio continues on from their number one single ‘King’ with lead singer Alexander delivering exceptional vocals. The additional vocals from Tove Lo add to the sound rather than taking away from what was already a fantastic single.

The meaning to the single is very much in the title; lyrics include “Give in to the game/ To the sense that you’ve been hiding.” Alexander is an openly gay singer and celebrates this in the accompanying video. In an interview, he said that ‘Desire’ felt like the right time to bring sexuality to the mix and that he chose to “because I do not want to hide or limit my sexuality, I want to make videos and songs and art that celebrate all different kinds of sexuality and queer identities”.

This catchy single is bound to become a hit.

‘Desire’ is out now via Polydor Records.
