It's been just over a year and the boys are back with a promising new sound.

5 Seconds of Summer have returned with a new single, and it seems they aren’t writing songs about ‘Good Girls’ anymore.

Co-written by Good Charlotte’s Madden brothers, the lead single for their forthcoming second studio album sticks to the band’s pop punk roots. With catchy lyrics, crashing guitars and loud vocals, it unveils a heavier sound that the boys have never shown us before.

‘She’s Kinda Hot’ takes us along the journey of being “alright though”, regardless of what you are told by society. The single sparks off with a sound reminiscent of One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, with melodic picked guitar and strong vocals from lead guitarist Luke Hemmings. The new single shifts away from the band’s more pop sounding roots and hits you with the promising sound of thick layers of electric guitar, with strong backing vocals from bassist Calum Hood and guitarist Michael Clifford.

The track itself provides a taste of their upcoming second studio album, which is due for release later this year. It stays true to the roots and style of the band, whilst moving in an exciting new direction.
