Review: Laurel – ‘Memorials’

0

With support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and V Magazine, amongst others, Laurel is one of those artists who is bound to feature on hundreds of ‘picks for 2015’ lists in the next few weeks, but give a listen to her current single ‘Memorials’ and you’ll see why.

Hailing from Salisbury Green, a small town between Southampton and Portsmouth, Laurel started gigging at the age of 14. Now, five years later, the young songstress has put the finishing touches to her debut album, which should be out next year and toured with John Newman and Dan Croll.

‘Memorials’ is taken from her Holy Water EP. It is an ethereal blend of bassy beats, yearning vocals and subtle orchestral nods, all coupled with expert production. The chorus is completely captivating, and cements Laurel’s status as one to watch.

‘Memorials’ will be released on December 29th via Next Time Records.
