Taylor Swift made a series of big announcements on this evenings live stream she held on Yahoo. She told her live audience of handpicked fans, as well as those watching at home, that ‘I have three big surprises for you today’. She started by playing her new single, ‘Shake It Off’.
Swift announced that this would be the first single from her highly anticipated fifth album, which she revealed would be called 1989. The album will be released on the 27th of October and is already up for pre-order. If you pre-order the album you’ll be entered into the ‘1989 SwiftStakes’ (which Taylor explained as “It’s like sweepstakes but we made it annoying”), where you could be in with a chance of winning one of 1989 prizes (including meet and greet tickets, merchandise and signed photos).
Swift also showcased the album artwork, which is a simple Polaroid picture of Swift herself with ‘T.S. 1989’ written underneath.
Swift’s live stream of huge announcements culminated in the premier of the video for ‘Shake It Off’. Totally different to anything she’s released before, Swift acknowledged that it’s her first “official pop album”. You can watch the video below.
