Review: Meadowlark – ‘I’ve Got You’

0

Made up of former solo artists Kate McGill, Daniel James Broadley and Carl Jones, Meadowlark are a fairly new band formed just over a year ago; but they have already been gigging a lot, playing festivals (most recently at British Summer Time at Hyde Park), the trio have released a video for their second single, ‘I’ve Got You’.

Very appropriate for this time of the year, the light-hearted and playful track takes the narrative of a 17 year old telling a story of  “liking someone in the workplace but knowing it’ll never actually progress to an outside-world relationship” as stated in the band’s newsletter. Filled with a pastel theme and vibrant colour dust, the video mirrors the playfulness of the song with McGill’s delicate vocals and guitar playing of all three members. It is true that you “can’t shake this feeling” of how breezy ‘I’ve Got You’ is and the harmonious multiple vocals toward the end of the song made it a lovely summer singsong.
