THUMPERS – ‘Galore’

0

2013 was a great year for duos. Disclosure and AlunaGeorge both released debut albums, and other pairs of talented individuals – Saint Lou Lou, Bondax – began to break through into the public domain. 2014 marks a change though. While we continue with the drive for duos, this year it’s all about the caps. A host of the most hotly tipped duos for this year are all capitalised (BROODS, IYES, AOSOON), and THUMPERS are one such act exhibiting potential by the bucket load.

Riding on the success of previous tracks ‘Unkinder’ and ‘Sound of Screams’, ‘Galore’ once again demonstrates their penchant for a breezy and bouncy alternative pop song.

Full of fluttering synths and exuberantly androgynous vocals, the London pair have found a niche for summertime pop to warm up the winter months. ‘Galore’ revolves around a playfully hedonistic theme – utterly feel good and brimming with care-free charm.

The full timbre of percussion and introduction of intermittent guitar riffs sparks recollections of summer 2009 with a finish which sounds a bit like Friendly Fires’ ‘Jump in the Pool’. It may not be the most groundbreaking of tracks, but ‘Galore’ showcases THUMPERS’ ability to make feel-good music to feel happy to: what more could you ask for from a February release?

‘Galore’ is the title track from their debut album which is set to be released on 11th February in the US via Sub Pop. A release date for the UK is yet to be announced.

‘Galore’ (the single) will be released in the UK on 24th February via True Say Recordings.
