Wiley feat. Angel & Tinchy Stryder – ‘Lights On’

0

‘Lights On’ is Wiley’s fourth attempt to cross the pop-grime barrier from album ‘The Ascent’. Following the success of number 1 single ‘Heatwave’, the London rapper has brought in singer Angel on a catchy dance chorus that will no doubt ensure chart success.

The punchy opening chorus eases into a familiar but enjoyable Wiley rap that you just can’t help but bob along to. Whilst the addition of Angel will make this a sure hit for the summer, giving Tinchy Stryder a verse comes as much more of a mistake, appearing as a lame attempt to fill out the end of the song and rescue his own stalling music career.

Another compromise between mainstream pop and London grime, this will almost certainly be another hit, though not Wiley at his very best. The nostalgic grass roots music video makes for an entertaining watch too.
