Gabrielle Aplin boasts a large and ever-expanding following on Facebook, a medium she uses often to self-promote her music. Aplin showcased her musical talents on Youtube in 2008, posting performances of covers, and later, her own songs. Following this, she gained a huge number of fans and went on to record EPs Never Fade and Home. Her latest single, ‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’, will be released on 18th November on an EP of the same name, also featuring the tracks ‘Stranger Side’, ‘Rings Round Roses’ and a  piano version of the title track.

‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’ is a sweet and simple love song with a guitar-driven folk/pop sound. Gabrielle Aplin’s soft vocals reflect the vulnerability of the lyrics, although the song lacks interest in terms of development. Unfortunately, ‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’ doesn’t seem to explore Aplin’s rich, low tones, and the song remains safe for its entirety. The unusual key change before the final chorus is perhaps too fleeting, but it does give the song an added interest.

After just one listen, the chorus of this track will stay with you. Isn’t that the sign of a good song? Check out the lyric video below, and await Aplin’s debut album.
