Rebecca Ferguson – Nothing’s Real But Love

0

In the last few years, X Factor runner-ups have tended to be more successful than the winners (see Olly Murs and JLS), and last year’s runner-up Rebecca Ferguson will hope to continue that trend with her debut single.

A very un-X Factor-like offering, ‘Nothing’s Real But Love’ is stripped back and all about Ferguson’s voice, and what a voice it is. A track co-written by Ferguson herself, she is very much the singer we loved on The X Factor last year; the rawness is still there, and her soulful voice shines through as she ponders “No money, no house, no car/Is like love”.

Rating: 9/10

Good: 2 minutes and 56 seconds of delight for your ears.

Bad: It was probably written about Zayn Malik.
