Awesome

A really cool track that will appeal to lots of people this summer and will get you excited for dancing all night at festivals this year.

This ideal summer jam is perfect either in a club or on the beach as the electro-R&B track sees Drake at his best. It is an exciting time for Drake as this could be his first number 1 as a lead artist in the UK. It features 35-year-old Kyla aka Melanie Alverez and Nigerian music star WizKid who add to the track’s cool vibes with their unique sounds.

Drake’s vocals compliment the simple rhythmic backing track and he once again boasts about pretty girls dancing for him and how the “street’s not safe/ but I never run away”. This will appeal to long time Drake fans because of the familiar ground as well as climbing high in the charts thanks to the dance hall feel and catchy chorus.

It samples Kyla’s 2009 song ‘Do You Mind’ but thankfully the pace has been slowed down as the song was originally part of a UK garage sub genre where vocals are sped up. Drake has transformed the track into something actually quite understated and universally cool. The “Cause if you’re down/ I’ll take it slow” line has already gone round and round in my head thanks to her drawn out vocals which make this a stand out track.

I am excited to see how well this song does in the future and whether we will hear more from WizKid and Kyla- it’s already one of my favourite songs of the summer and the summer hasn’t even started yet.

‘One Dance’ is out now via Young Money.
