Fresh off releasing his record-breaking and chart-smashing hit album Divide, Ed Sheeran has today been confirmed to be the headline star of the Glastonbury Pyramid stage.
The official Glastonbury Facebook page announced Sheeran’s involvement today saying: ‘Ed Sheeran is Glastonbury’s third 2017 headliner! He’s gone from the Croissant Neuf tent in 2011 to topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night at this year’s Festival.’
The British superstar had previously appeared twice at Glastonbury- once in 2011 just before his release of his first ever album – + and also in 2014, for a slot on the Pyramid Stage which culminated with a giant audience sing-along of smash hit ‘Sing’.
Sheeran is currently dominating the globe, smashing Spotify records and also occupying sixteen out of twenty spots in the UK Top Twenty Singles Chart. Divide is also currently top of the UK Album Chart. Sheeran joins a list of artists involved in Glastonbury 2017 including Foo Fighters, Laura Marling and London Grammar.
