Game of Thrones Season Seven teaser released

Alongside the great reveal of the Game of Thrones season seven premiere date, HBO have released the first teaser for the series, entitled the ‘Sigils’ teaser.

The trailer features an ominous tense chess-like battle between a variety of stone statues representing each House, while Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) explains: ‘I know what my father was’, before continuing, ‘I know how the Mad King earned his name.’

The music reaches a climax as Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) boldly states, ‘I’ll kill every Targaryen I get my hands on.’ Cersei Lannister (Lena Heady) tersely comments, ‘Everyone who isn’t us is an enemy.’

Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) interjects in, ordering: ‘Ser Ilyn, bring me his head.’ Balon Greyjoy affirms, ‘We are ironborn, we take what is ours.’ The High Septon once more instates Cersei Lannister as Monarch as wildfire storms across the statues.

The trailer ends on somewhat sinister note, as Daenerys’ haunting comment compares the Houses to a wheel, as the statues crumble to pieces. Jon Snow finishes by defiantly confirming: ‘There is only one war that matters: The Great War.’

Game of Thrones will return on 16th July 2017. Check out the trailer below:
